Addendum to the Grand Providentia Projections Pitch

An Open Gateway to Opportunity?

Yes, I believe it is!

I’ve had multiple phone conversations over the last couple of weeks with past clients, employees, and business associates concerning a major shakeup in the bronze sculpture industry here in the southeast. The first conversation I had was with Charles Wambold III – President, Founder and Foundry Master of American Bronze Foundry in Sanford, Florida. I’m grateful to say that I’ve regarded Charlie as a good friend and trusted associate for more than 20 years now. American Bronze has been my foundry of choice since I left Bronzart Foundry Inc. in 2008, and I exclusively sub-contracted ABF to “cast and blast” all the bronze work I produced during my eleven years as a business owner in the commercial sculpture industry on the west coast of Florida. Charlie called early last week to share the happy news that he was selling his facility and retiring at the end of the year. He further explained that the offer to buy his property came unexpectedly and confessed that it was an offer he couldn’t turn down. He’d already been planning to retire for some time but hadn’t figured out exactly how to make it happen, until now. I’ve long admired Charlie for his impeccable work ethics and unflinching dedication to the art of bronze sculpture casting. I can’t help but applaud his enduring commitment to the sculpture industry, having experienced firsthand how physically demanding and emotionally stressful the business can be at times. Charles, his wife Renee, and the rest of the Wambold family have persevered through damaging hurricanes, oppressive heat and the highs and lows of the Florida economy for 35 years, ultimately creating the largest and most capable art foundry in the Southeastern US. Universal Dreamer or Well-grounded Entrepreneur

Well before Charlie had finished filling me in on the details of his unexpected liberation from the responsibilities of Foundry Master at ABF, and furthermore, his newly found pathway to retirement, a familiar sense of wonder began to well up within my mind and spirit. I refer to it as a familiar sense of wonder not because it happens often, but because this particular brand of wonder is almost always associated with sensations brought on by the astute recognition that synchronicity plays a major role in orchestrating the circumstances of life. In other words, I’ve become intimately acquainted with the dynamics of manifestation, and when I perceive that the signs and synchronicities are in alignment, I experience the sensation of knowing that the Source, or the Universe if you prefer, is about to manifest a new expression of reality in a positive and powerful way. Specifically, though, in the context of my conversation with Charlie, I wondered immediately whether his situation, his new reality, was directly connected with my own. Since the beginning of this year, I’ve grown increasingly convinced that NBCUniversal is actively pursuing the development of the Grand Providentia Projections and is possibly closing in on a greenlight for the inception of this worldwide production. If my intuitive sensibilities are as keen as I believe them to be, and my convictions are correct, then it isn’t a very broad leap for me to imagine that the NBCUniversal group might be involved with the purchase of the American Bronze Foundry. After all, the facility is located just north of the largest Universal theme park in the world. With all those resources, human and material, just minutes away, it would be an ideal location to begin production of the flagship GP Projection which I suspect is to be installed somewhere on the east coast of the USA (North Bergen, NJ?). And even if that whole scenario is a figment of my imagination, or simply wishful thinking, there are other, more empirical reasons, that Charlie’s news has the potential to significantly impact the future of my professional career in the visual arts.

For the sake of clarity, before I get into the rest of the conversation I had with Charlie, I’ll back up a bit and recount a yearslong discussion I’ve been having with Mike Elwell, another long-term friend and trusted associate of mine. I met Mike in 2007, when I worked for Bronzart Foundry Inc., Sarasota, FL, and indeed Bronzart’s struggles in the bronze business have been the subject matter of our ongoing discussion. Mike called me about a week ago, just a few days after Charlie’s call to ask if I had any ideas how he, or we together, could help Bronzart survive in the business of bronze. In the interest of brevity, I won’t get into the nature or the origins of their troubles in this post, but I will say that Bronzart has been in steady decline since the passing of its President, Founder and Foundry Master, Richard Frignoca in 2014.

Now, back to my phone call with Charlie. I asked if he knew what kind of business would be moving in when he moved out. He said that he didn’t know, but he didn’t think it would be a bronze foundry because they hadn’t expressed any interest in the equipment or the contents of the buildings. That was when he gave me another bit of info that piqued my interest in an entirely different way. He told me that he’d be attempting to sell all of his foundry equipment from front door to back for $300,000, but it would need to be cleared out by the end of January 2027. He also told me that he wasn’t taking on any new projects because he had to finish up everything currently in the works. Then he mentioned Bronzart, or at least he mentioned all of the panicking clients of Bronzart who had been calling him or dropping in for a visit to ask whether ABF could finish their projects, many of which had been stalled for months due to his primary competition’s rapid disintegration and steady movement toward insolvency. Charlie told me he regretted having to turn down all that business, and that he was sorry to see how things were going for the west coast foundry, but reasserted that he was already committed to winding down his own productions at American Bronze. He elaborated further, telling me that he’d also turned down many other projects, “…including seven life-size figures during the last two weeks alone.” Sensing my interest in the foundry equipment he was planning to sell, Charlie told me that he couldn’t let it go until the end of the year, because it would be in use until then, but preferably the deal would be brokered by that time so everything could be off the property in early January. One added benefit to the package would be his company website and client base contact information.

Taking all of this information into account, I’ll make the following statement – I know in my heart that I’m one of very few people in the states who could pick up where American Bronze Foundry and Bronzart Foundry Inc. left off. I would need to find an investor, or investors, to support me in the endeavor. I’d also need financial advisors and business management executives to help me run the day-to-day foundry work, but I know that my passion for the arts and my creative leadership style would add up to an extraordinarily successful bronze foundry. Time is of the essence, as usual, but I’m ready to get back to business in my creativity and this could be the start of an exciting new chapter in the “True story, as yet unfolding…”

Naturally Progressive

I’ve often professed to being a pragmatic dreamer – unafraid to trust in my own creative abilities, while also remaining grounded in reality – being able to discern the difference between achievable goals and flights of fantasy. Soulfire Creative is Plan-B. It could include a foundry facility, but not necessarily. I wrote a preliminary outline for Soulfire Creative in 2025. (see below)
Written in the Autumn of 2025, this plan doesn’t take into account any of the recent developments I’ve detailed in this post. Starting out with a pre-existing client/project base from American Bronze Foundry, Bronzart Foundry Inc. and Moore Art Expressions would surely bolster Soulfire Creatives’ potential for short-term profitability.

Earthly Dreams Prevail

I’ve never been one to dream in mediocrity. I see mediocrity everywhere, so I perceive that it must be an adequate goalpost for the less imaginative masses. It seems to me that mediocre dreams could be something certain people settle for because they’ve been conditioned to believe they’re simply not equipped to dream in excellence. When it comes to imagining new worlds into being, I prefer to dream in excellence. I strive to envision an improved version of the world; a world moving toward unity and away from intolerance; a world where it’s just as easy to imagine happiness as it is to imagine sorrow; and a world where dreams of peace aren’t summarily ridiculed as unrealistic imaginings.

I dream of a world where the “Grand Providentia Projections” are embraced as a universal expression of human excellence. NBCUniversal has rightly earned its reputation of excellence in the industries of film and entertainment the world over, time and again, for more than a century. In my estimation, this is a world that only NBCUniversal can help me imagine into reality. Together, is the ideal way to build adventurous new worlds.

Urgent call to action: Like so many creatives before me, I look to the world around me for moral and financial support. I need help to realize my dreams. I must confess that I cannot fully comprehend the enormity of the expense or the complexity of the production planning for this project, so I have only a limited understanding of the timeline necessary for development of the IP. Still, I must ask for some form of confirmation, perhaps including short term compensation. Might NBCUniversal offer to purchase an option on the intellectual property, if indeed they are intending to commit to the project? I hold firm that the Grand Providentia Projections will be a gift to the future of all life on Earth. I’m asking NBCUniversal to help make this gift a reality, and together, we’ll start to build a brave new world. A world that has been patiently waiting to be imagined into existence.

Welcome to Exploratory Sunday!

We stand on the banks of a river of consciousness. Except that this is no ordinary river of consciousness, it is the tumultuous accumulation of every trickling stream of consciousness that has ever found its way into the one massive torrent of universal potentiality. Where we are now standing, has been the starting point of every great physical, metaphysical, and spiritual exploration ever embarked upon. We have the choice to stay here on these solid shores of security, these granite outcroppings of little risk, or we can choose to trust in the current, and allow its beckoning calls to entice us into its liquid embrace. For sure, there will be dark depths and shallows of light along the course of this magnificent flow. There will be risks taken and rewards earned. And knowing all of this, we will make the choice to explore with abandon or stay stagnant in our stasis and watch the others let go. The entrance is by way of a shimmering trail, a pathway of light, hovering just above the surface of our shared consciousness. For some, the pathway appears to be a rickety wooden dock, for others it is as solid as a golden brick road. I am now walking just above the surface of the river, following the vaporous scales of a rainbow serpent’s body. Dive in with me; as you will see; the only threats found here are the ones we ourselves conjure, using the well-rehearsed incantations of our deepest fears.

Now, we’re releasing the rainbow serpent’s head, as it dips down and withdraws, we become one with the fluidity, two with the solidity, and three with the ambiguity. We are at once a musical note with twice the reverberation of a bull moose bellow, but we’re also a smartphone ringtone described by a cello. We wonder about the stars, on Hollywood Boulevard, while we are dreaming with Costner about wolves dressed in baseball uniforms. Not old school uniforms, they’re not worn in uniformity at all, more in tune with motley crew outfits, donned by the cast of the Deadliest Catch. We all catch a chill, and we release it as well. These days there is a shortage of every fish it seems. Even white wine served at room temperature has a short fuse. Bullets and bombs should be stored in root cellars, let the roots stay connected to the tree trunks who need them. Gold crowns encrusted with white flour by star studded bakers, are eaten by preachers, leading their flocks of daily bread takers. We’ve now entered an eddy, a roundabout in the road, our way forward is spiral, ham-hocks and tick-tocks gone viral. To avoid motion sickness, we’ll watch the horizon, where every big event appears smaller, with the exclusions of waterfalls and sun rises. Back to the main flow, orientation a given, we now understand, why our lives are worth living. It’s not for the fame, the cash flow, the glory. It’s not for the pain we attach to our story. We live to experience what it’s like to be human. To experience the love and forgiveness we offer to ourselves and each other. To break bread and share joy and relish the wonder of this incredible adventure we call existence.

Exploratory Sundays are likely to continue indefinitely. Hopefully, they will always be enjoyable, and ideally, they will encourage a smile!

When I retitled the American Dream Catcher bronze as Providentia, I arrived at the choice intuitively. I made an intuitive choice based on the limited knowledge I had at the time. I was looking for a title that was synonymous with English definitions of providence. Having lived in the village of Hope, in the state of Rhode Island for many years during my young life, I’ve always taken comfort in the fact that the state capital was named Providence, therefore I’m sure, at least subliminally, that I favored providence for nostalgic reasons. But the conscious choice was ultimately made because of the high ideals that the word conjures in my heart and mind. In truth, I almost used Providence as is, due to a particular definition that I found as soon as I started searching – “timely preparation for future eventualities.” ~ Oxford Languages. I then searched for the Latin origins of the word providence and found what I thought to be an eloquent alternative in Providentia. Three quarters of a decade later, spellcheck is still underlining the word in red, whenever, and wherever, I am writing about the work of art digitally. Since the application of a new patina and the retitling of the piece in 2015, I’ve learned more about the name I had chosen so long ago. Providentia Augusta was the Roman Goddess of forethought, foresight, and a maker of provisions for the eventualities She alone foresaw. The spirit of the Grand Providentia Initiative is all about looking ahead collectively, and adjusting some of our lifestyle choices now, to make wise and ample provision for a promising future.

Adding the adjective “Grand” to Providentia in all discussions about the enlarged version of the sculpture may seem obvious, or even juvenile to some, but I considered other qualifiers for a good while and kept coming back to grand. From conception, the 42″ bronze sculpture was intended as a working model for a much larger piece. A monumental bronze, envisioned at 16′ tall, it would include all of the natural elemental forces of our environment – earth, air, fire and water – with the added elemental force of collective human consciousness. Spectacular was another word that I remember considering as a replacement for grand in the title, but I thought it sounded forced. I stayed with grand.

In recent months, I’ve turned away from the idea of the Grand Providentia being described, even in passing, as an art project. It has become so much more than that. To call it a “projection” instead, was also an intuitive decision – just like the name Providentia, except this time it was arrived at during a series of transcendental meditations wherein I envisioned the Grand Providentia projected onto the face of the Earth by the collective conscious intentions of a multitude of like-minded human beings. Consciousness acting as a celestial slide-projector. Just as it is believed in many contemporary spiritual traditions, we would collectively attract light energy from on high, beckoning Universal consciousness down to us, while we were simultaneously performing the groundwork of physical manifestation. The projections would be materialized objectively, of course, with the hard work and creative persistence of many courageous individuals, but they would also be manifested metaphysically through the power of positive intentions. The Grand Providentia Projection is currently experiencing a growth spurt unlike any other it’s had since the inception of the American Dream Catcher project in 2008. The materialization of this dream is imminent.

“Providentia”

I’ll keep the focus of this overview set on the physical end-product of the Grand Providentia Projections in order to afford you all a better description of how these focal points for high consciousness will be presented to the whole of humanity. It is likely that the first one will need to be produced in the United States on the mainland. Funding will need to be in place before the site is chosen, but already I’m sensing that it would be well received in Colorado. The Projections will be more than just sculptures placed on pedestals. Part of the broader vision is that they would be encircled by meditative gardens with water features and plantings of native vegetation. Local stone would be used for any structures or paved walkways within the footprint of the Projection. I would also want to incorporate a modest learning center where people are able to find more information about the scope of the projections once they are being manifested globally.

The sculptures themselves will need to include stainless steel support armatures for strength, and the reflective orb in the lower portion of the piece will also probably be produced in stainless steel (high polished and custom cast at 30″ in diameter). While the main structure is likely to be cast in bronze, it is just as likely that much of it will be fashioned with other materials such as stone or glass. I am not attached to the design of Providentia, or even its basic shape, those considerations are open to change by the creative crew that will be assembled to produce the artwork for each location. I’m sure there will be ten or twelve professional artists and architects involved in the planning and producing of each projection. Beyond that, there will be a support crew – technicians, administrators, patrons and any other ancillary help as needed. I firmly believe that once the intentions are set and the resources are in place, each projection will be raised up and promoted by the positive energy being attracted by the enthusiasm of the group. We’ll be relying heavily on positive vibrations. Not only the vibrations of active participants, but also the high vibrations of people from all over the world who are interested and invested in our success. Yes, I’m sure there will also be those who are trying to impede our progress, in fact I am fully expecting formidable resistance, but let’s not get into that here. You can trust that I’ve already been practicing counter-resistance techniques for more than a decade in my own life, so I don’t expect there will be much negative impact on our efforts in the long run. The Grand Providentia Projections will be made manifest. The time is now, the place is here, on the surface of our one and only planet – Earth.

Transitions are as natural and integral to the human experience as are nocturnal dreams. Intuitively, I know that most of my personal transitions are happening at the same pace whether I am asleep or awake. In fact, it seems that the majority of ‘heartland’ transitions occur at night, on dreamscapes conjured by a collective subconscious mind. In the material world, physical transitions are largely a matter of logistics – we make our plans and follow through with actions to transition from one place to another. Our dreams follow. Our dreams lead. We are eternally in transit, while we are here, and when we move on.

Manifesting a Career in the Arts

I’ve read quite a few biographies about people from various backgrounds and professional fields of study. Because of my interest in the visual arts, most of them were written about artists. One particular artist’s biography that deeply resonated with me is Christo’s (Christo Vladimirov Javacheff – 1935–2020). Many of my friends from RI may remember him as the artist that wrapped the cliffs and beachfront in Newport, RI in 1974. That was one of his lesser-known projects. One of his biggest undertakings was in Germany, where he wrapped the Reichstag Parliment Building, in 1995. During his artistic career Christo conceived of and installed, in creative partnership with his wife Jeanne-Claude Denat, multiple large-scale projects all over the world. He funded them all with proceeds from the preproduction artwork and all of the materials (content) gathered from the concept development stages of the project. He lived a very simple and inexpensive lifestyle. As I remember, he never even owned an automobile or acquired a driving license. He was too busy creating his art.

Making a Way

I am in transition. I’m transitioning out of the hourly wage lifestyle of a blue-collar worker and into a creative career where I will rely on patrons and supporters who appreciate and add value to the artwork I create. I’ve already put enormous amounts of creative energy into the “Grand Providentia Projection”. I expect to be adding to, and compounding, those energies until I move on from this place. This is to be my masterwork in the arts.

Preproduction Phase 1 – Produce a small scale “Providentia” bronze sculpture with moving part(s), light, and possibly sound, to sell as a promotional fundraising element and to attract resources for the large-scale “Grand Providentia Projection(s)”. Limited to 50 castings (plus one AP), the tabletop edition will be 12″ tall and weigh approximately 30 pounds. The first ten of this reduced scale edition will be priced at $4,500.00. The price for the remaining 40 is likely to increase as the larger project becomes a reality. For anyone who is ready to invest in one of these works of high art, I will require a third deposit to reserve a signed and numbered bronze sculpture. Because the process to produce these sculptures has only just begun – it is currently being digitized and reduced – I estimate that the first 10 will be ready to ship in early 2024. These are exciting times and I expect the excitement to grow as the Grand Providentia Projections are made manifest.

The Road Trip That Wasn’t Meant to Happen #1

The banner photograph above is titled “Un-Natural Ice in the Swamp”, it is one of a dozen photos that are available for purchase. Most of them were taken on the ‘Trial Run Road Trip’ that I just returned from.

Now, I am in Savannah, making preparations to set forth on a very special cross-country road trip. The purpose of the trip is not adventure, though I’m certain it will be adventurous. The purpose is not leisure either, but I will definitely be sure to make time to relax, breath and meditate along the way. The true purpose of this trip is of the utmost importance, and I am therefore compelled to do everything I can to see it through to its end, back here on the east coast. From the moment I conceived of this journey, I’ve been focused on the dual purposes that the trip will fulfill. First, there is the matter of life experience to be gained on the road. In my 59 years on the planet, I’ve never traveled further west than New Orleans, LA. It hasn’t necessarily been an objective on my bucket list, but I am certain the experience will prepare me for many world travels that I expect will be necessary in the coming years, to fulfill the dream of the “Grand Providentia Projection”. The second purpose behind the trip is to gather content in the form of film footage, photographs, journal entries and creative writing expressions, which will then become valuable content for documentary and fictional films that I intend to produce.
